Y’all know I love cheering on small businesses, especially when they’re creating something meaningful and beautiful. I’m so excited to share this one because I’ve personally purchased several pieces from Nancy Campbell at NK Silver Co., and I truly love each piece she’s designed for me. Her work is not only gorgeous, but it’s made with so much care and creativity.

Nancy is the silversmith behind NK Silver, creating custom turquoise and silver jewelry that’s one of a kind and full of heart. I had the chance to visit with her and learn more about her story, and I can’t wait to share it with you!

Meet Nancy

Nancy is balancing a lot these days—she’s in nursing school and coming up on her first full year of silversmithing. Her love for western jewelry started years ago.

“I bought my first pair of turquoise earrings almost five years ago and just kept collecting from there,” she told me. That love for collecting is what eventually inspired her to start creating her own pieces.

How NK Silver Co. Got Started

Nancy said she followed several silversmiths on social media and loved buying from them, but she was also drawn to the creative side of it.

“I was in awe at the creativity you could express through jewelry and decided to give it a try. My first few pieces weren’t perfect and took a while, but I fell in love with it right away—especially making custom pieces for people,” she said.

The Story Behind the Materials

Nancy’s work often features Navajo-style pearls and turquoise, both of which hold special meaning for her.

“During junior college, my roommate and I started CN Navajo Pearls as a little side business to help pay the bills and give us something fun to do. She runs it now, but I still love stringing pearls when I can—it reminds me of that time, and I just love a good silver stack!”

As for turquoise, Nancy especially loves working with Golden Hills turquoise for its beautiful soft blue color and unique patterns. Golden Hills turquoise comes from the Golden Hills mine in Kazakhstan. It’s known for its pale, powdery blue shades with subtle lavender undertones and warm brown or rust-colored matrix.

Why She Loves Silversmithing

What Nancy enjoys most about silversmithing is creating pieces that last.

“I love being able to make pieces that will be handed down through generations. And I really love shopping for different stones and seeing ideas in my head come to life,” she said.

The Custom Process

When someone reaches out for a custom piece, Nancy starts by asking for inspiration—sometimes it’s a sketch, sometimes a photo or a description. She goes over the details, like the stones, size, chain style, and special touches they want.

Then, she lays out the stones and shares a photo before she starts making the piece, so the customer can make sure it’s exactly what they’re hoping for.

A Favorite Creation

One of Nancy’s favorite custom orders was a Golden Hills turquoise choker set.

“It was one of my first bigger custom pieces, and I was a little nervous to start on it. But I was so proud of how it turned out. The buyer trusted me to bring her vision to life, and she’s become one of my most loyal repeat customers.”

Where She Finds Inspiration

Nancy says she finds inspiration in the stones themselves.

“I order a batch of stones and play around with different layouts until I find one I love—something I’d wear myself. I try to make sure my pieces are dainty, colorful, and true to my style.”

The Heart Behind Her Work

Nancy hopes her jewelry does more than just complete an outfit.

“I hope my jewelry makes everyone feel beautiful when wearing it, and makes them proud to wear handmade jewelry,” she said.

Nancy is getting ready for one of her favorite events—Cowgirl Market in Stillwater at the Payne County Fairgrounds, October 2-3, 2025.

“This will be my third year there, and I’m so excited to bring even more pieces this time!”
